Route Information

Route Support

We’ll provide road support, SAG stops with snacks and refreshments, and lunch each day on Saturday and Sunday, with a number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections.  The routes for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be marked with Dan Henrys on the road surface.  The traditional Monday morning ride will not be marked.  All routes will have maps, cue sheets, and GPS files available at www.ridewithgps.

The Saturday and Sunday rides will be fully supported with roving SAG vehicles to assist you if you need help. A mechanic will be stationed at the SAG stop for the fully supported rides on Saturday and Sunday. For the Friday and Monday rides, you may call the support phone number on your name tag, and we’ll send someone to help.

Our friendly roving SAG drivers enjoy stopping to help you with any problem. If you are unable to fix minor problems such as a flat tire or dropped chain, please ask one of your fellow tandem teams to help before calling the support line. This is especially helpful to us on Friday and Monday when we have service on-call only.

Route Descriptions

All routes are flat with a few small hills.

Friday:  Ride, Glide, and Dine

This route is under review due to permitting problems; we hope to have details posted by the end of April. 27 Mile Route:  Heading west from the Wyndham, ten miles of county roads will allow you to stretch your legs after your drive to Westfield.  From the west side of Carmel, you’ll pass through the Village of West Clay to Jackson Circle.  Carmel is the roundabout capital of the world, and Jackson Circle was named “International Roundabout of the Year” by the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society in 2016.  At about the 20 mile mark, you’ll turn north onto the Monon Trail with numerous dining options at Midtown Plaza.  If you want to do some exploring, head south on the Monon where in less than ½ mile you’ll encounter the Palladium and City Hall. From Carmel, you’ll travel 5 miles north on the Monon Trail to Westfield where there are numerous dining and ice cream opportunities.

Saturday:  Cicero Challenge

31, 39, 47 & 64 miles.  All routes will head northeast to Morse Reservoir to a rest stop at Cicero Community Park.  The 31 and 39 mile routes will then head east to Potter’s Bridge and onto the lunch stop in Noblesville’s Forest Park.  The 47 mile route will head east passing the White River Campground before heading south to Noblesville for lunch.  The 64 mile route add a north loop and then return to the Cicero SAG stop before heading to lunch.  From lunch the route will return to Westfield on the Midland Trace Trail.

To ride 39 miles, follow the 47 mile route to the Cicero rest stop, and from there, follow the 31 mile route.

Sunday:  Sheridan Scramble

32, 41, 47 & 66 miles.  All routes will head north through Chatham Hills.  Each route will go north before circling back to the rest stop at Sheridan’s Biddle Park.  The 32 and 41 mile routes will head west to the lunch stop at Wood Wind Golf Club.  The 47 mile route will add a trip to Big Springs before heading to lunch.  The 66 mile route will add a loop to the northern edge of Hamilton County before returning to the Biddle Park rest stop.  From there the 66 mile route will follow the same course as the 47 mile route.  From the lunch stop all routes will head east to the Monon Trail and back to Westfield.

To ride 41 miles, follow the 47 mile route to the Sheridan rest stop, and from there, follow the 32 mile route.

Sunday: Boone County Gravel RideRide with GPS

Starting from Biddle Park in Sheridan, our gravel route for Sunday begins with a trip through town on the recently-added extension of the Monon Trail, which is built upon the roadbed that once hosted the Monon Railroad’s famous Throroughbred passenger train between Indianapolis and Chicago.

After leaving the trail, we encounter our first taste of the plush, generously-graveled roads of Boone County about a mile later, heading south and west through peaceful farm fields and pastures. Turning back north, we re-cross State Route 47 to enjoy a segment of scenic, tree-lined Punkinvine Road before we head back west again, remaining on gravel almost exclusively at this point until our return to Sheridan.

Our westward trek rolls a bit through more picturesque farms and fields before we reach the highlight segment of our day, Scotland Road. This lovely gravel road begins with a  photogenic, classic, steepled Indiana country church as we make our left hand turn onto Scotland Road, which winds along Sugar Creek under a canopy of trees for much of its 2.5 mile length. With several twists, turns, and short climbs, you’ll want to pay close attention to the road and choose your line carefully while taking in the scenic beauty of the area.

We then cross Sugar Creek again on State Route 38 and head south, then west back toward Sheridan through more corn and soybean fields which will soon be ready for harvesting. Our return to Biddle Park reverses our outbound route on the Monon Trail through Sheridan where our journey for the day comes to an end. Monday: Zionsville Donut Dash

14 & 31 miles.  Both routes will head west with the longer ride picking up some rolling hills north of Zionsville.  Donuts will be served at Westfield’s Quaker Park from 8:30am to 10:30am.

Monday Mountain Biking:  Before you head home, please join us for a no drop mountain bike ride on the trails of Brown County.  We will start in Brown County State Park and head out to enjoy the trails of Yellowwood Forest, and then back into the park.  The ride will be approximately 3 hours long, consisting of single track, double track, and loads of fun.  We will have a SAG stop to provide drinks and snacks.  Then we can shower in the park’s campground and have a late lunch enjoying some local craft brews and camaraderie.

If you have not heard of the trails of Brown County State Park, you’re missing out on some of the best-ranked trails in the country.  Check out these websites for more information:

The $5 per person fee covers the cost of SAG food and the campground showers.  The entry fee to Brown County State Park is $7 for an in-state vehicle, and $9 for an out-of-state vehicle.  A trail fee of $5 per person may apply (we are trying to get a group rate).  For more information, email Peter Louton at peter@midwestbicycleworks.com

Please note that Brown County State Park is just over 80 miles south from Westfield.

Ride with GPS files will be “final” in mid-August of 2025
